A Day in the Life
of a Tractor-Loader-Backhoe Operator

Tractor-loader-backhoe operators most commonly work on small housing projects (such as septic beds, driveways, and ditches), landscaping, trench digging (for gas, water, telephone, storm drain, and septic systems), material loading, snow removal, and on large construction sites for roadwork, sewers and water mains.

Operators should be physically fit and have good hand-eye coordination. As team players with a strong work ethic, they are always punctual and reliable. Operators have to meet deadlines and know they have to be ready to work long hours and weekends, and travel when required.
