Bulldozer Operator

The dozer is an essential piece of equipment, as it clears and prepares jobsites before construction can begin, and continually moves material, and grades and levels surfaces.

At the end of the practical training, you will be able to excavate around grade stakes, grade, level, and slope materials. You should be able to construct, grade and crown a 25-meter roadway to within industry tolerances, and be able to use machine-attached GPS and laser equipment.

Bulldozer OperatorCompetency guidelines set by the Ontario Government for bulldozer operators require 240 hours in-school training (78 hours of theory and 162 hours per machine) and 2,000-2,500 hours on-the-job experience. In-school training standards were decided by employers, experienced operators, and government and are considered the entry-level (bare minimum) requirement.
